  Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)

Course Description:

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is a method of  chest compressions and rescue breathing delivered to unconscious victims thought to be in cardiac arrest.  When cardiac arrest occurs, the heart stops pumping blood.  CPR can support a small amount of blood flow to the heart and brain until normal heart function is restored.

AHA Recommendation

The American Heart Association adopted new CPR science guidelines in November 2005. These guidelines are the basis for teaching CPR. Be aware that there are now three different CPR classes.  Be sure to choose the one that's right for you.  Click here to learn more.

current American Heart Association ECC guidelines for real life “code” situations.

Focus areas include:
Advanced airway management, ekg analysis,
acute coronary syndrome and stroke, ACLS pharmacology, shock, AED’s, special situations, “code team dynamics” and more!

Intended Audience
The course is designed for medical providers such as physicians, nurses, physician assistants, paramedics, respiratory therapists, and other professionals who may respond to a cardiovascular emergency.

  Pediatric Advanced Life Support

Course Description:
The completely redesigned American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support course is based on new science evidence from the 2005 AHA Guidelines for CPR and ECC and a new teaching methodology. The goal of the PALS course is to aid the pediatric healthcare provider in developing the knowledge and skills necessary to efficiently and effectively manage critically ill infants and children, resulting in improved outcomes. Skills taught include recognition and treatment of infants and children at risk for cardiopulmonary arrest; the systematic approach to pediatric assessment; effective respiratory management; defibrillation and synchronized cardioversion; intraosseous access and fluid bolus administration; and effective resuscitation team dynamics.

Intended Audience:
For pediatricians, emergency physicians, family physicians, physician assistants, nurses, nurse practitioners, paramedics, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare providers who initiate and direct advanced life support in pediatric emergencies.

Card Type:  Course completion with 2 year validation.

  First Aid

Course Description:

First Aid is the immediate care given to the injured or suddenly ill person.  It is the temporary assistance that is rendered until competent medical care, if required, arrives and takes over.  This is a basic program that will concentrate on the first five minutes of care.  If your work or lifestyle places you in locations where the EMS (Emergency Medical Services) response time is questionable, you may wish to participate in a first responder program.

First Aid courses are available to groups of 8 or more students at your venue.  Please contact us for more information.

Basic Cardiac Telemetry: The Art of Rhythm Interpretation

Course Description:
A two-day course introducing the basic concepts of arrhythmia recognition and interpretation.

This seminar is geared to those who are new to cardiac care and to experienced professional alike. It provides an in depth overview of telemetry and helps non-cardiac specialists understand why it is important to monitor a heart's electrophysiology and to understand what it all means. Every attempt is made to simplify the complexities of telemetry and point out common mistakes so they can be avoided.

Seminar content covers basic cardiac terminology, anatomy related to the heart, electrophysiology, an introduction of monitoring principles, and an analysis of common and potentially lethal dysrhythmias including sinus, atrial, junctional, and ventricular arrhythmias, heart blocks, pacemakers and special considerations.

Learning activities include lecture, interactive discussion, analysis of ECG strips and learning evaluation. Seminar design allows time for practice of systematic approach to rhythm interpretation. Certificate of Completion is awarded for 100% attendance and successfully passing a written learning evaluation.

Telemetry courses are available to groups of 8 or more students at your venue. Please contact us for more information.
